Son of Frederick Bawden and Mary Ann Bawden nee Johnston of Beverin Street, Sebastopol, Victoria. Brother of Frederick Percival Lancelot Bawden who was killed in action on 4 October 1917 while serving with the 8th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres
