Biography contributed by Kent Beard

Frederick Roy March was the fifth child of Alfred and Mary March.

Fred attended the Grace Plains School and was in his teens when the family moved from the farm to Prospect. This enabled him to do his secondary education at Nailsworth High School.

When World War ll commenced Fred enlisted in the RAAF and trained at Narrandera as a rigger and served in the 4/55 Squadron in England, Scotland and Wales. He remained there for three and a half years until the end of the war, gaining the rank of sergeant.

He married Mavis Agnes Adolfson on the 4th June 1941.

On his return to Australia and civilian life Fred gained employment with Lightburn Industries where he remained until retirement.

Fred and Mavis had three children.

He died on 9th January 1989.
