RAAF Lockheed Hudson aircraft A16-27 of Number 23 Squadron was lost in Moreton Bay, Queensland at a location known as Jumpin Pin between North & South Stradbroke Island
The aircraft took off from Archerfield airfield in Brisbane for a navigational exercise at sea but failed to return. Its wireless faded out 20 minutes after take-off, and nothing more was heard. Two Hudson aircraft took off at 0700 hours the next morning to carry out a search but no wreckage was found - lost at 27.27 Latitude and 153.47 Longitude
The crew are commemorated on the Sydney Memorial to the missing in the NSW Garden of Remembrance adjacent to the Sydney War Cemetery within the Rookwood Necropolis
