potted biography
Frank was an Australian born German with parents who migrated to South Australia in 1848. In 1914 he married Nellie Cook, daughter of Cook's Marine Blacksmiths in Norfolk St Fremantle. He was very upset that his name change did not come through until after they were married. He dropped his last name, Schottelius, taking his middle name Raebel (from his Mother).
They had three boys Robert, Les and Arthur all of whom served in WW2.
Frank was a crack shot and it ran in the family.
He didn't serve in WW1 (he was probably a bit too German). In WW2 two sons volunteered. He tried to hold back his youngest son but Arthur Joined the 10th Light Horse mustering in Bunbury.
Frank was a leading citizen in the community of Benger W.A. He joined the Volunteer Defence Corps during WW2.
