Private George Henry Bradford stated at his medical review in England, that when enlisting in April 1917, he was informed by the Recruitng Sergeant to state that his age was 44½, where in fact he was 59 years of age.

The death occurred on November 24 of Mr George Henry Bradford, at the age of 72 years. Born in Shropshire, England, he came to Australia when 12 years of age. He was educated at St James's School in Sydney, and later came to Queensland and for 30 years was in the employ of the A.U.S.N. Company. He married Miss Eleanor Andrews in 1889, the marriage taking place In Holy Trinity Church, Valley. The late Mr Bradford was well known in the Central District and in Roma. He enlisted in the 42nd Battalion, and saw service in the Great War, being invalided home.
His wife predeceased him by two years, and he is survived by a family of two sons and three daughters. The sons are Messrs. George L. Bradford (Southport), and Charles H. Bradford (Brisbane), and the daughters are Mesdames J. West (Brisbane), E. Schatz (Brisbane), and Miss E. M. Bradford (Thompson Estate). There are also six grandchildren. The funeral took place to the Toowong Cemetery, after a short service had been conducted at his late residence, in Cornwall-street, Thompson Estate, by Rev. E. H. Smith (of St. Philip's Church of England) who also officiated at the graveside. Among those present at the funeral were representatives from the A.U.S.N.
