Thomas William BIRCH was born in Surry Hills, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on 4th May 1890. He was the eldest of four children to parents Thomas Nicholas and Sabinah Lydia (née LAWRENCE) BIRCH.
He married Annie Marie HEARD in Victoria, Australia in 1917 (BDM Vic. Reg No. 2405/1917).
Following an earlier argument, Thomas William BIRCH was shot in the chest by his former girlfriend Anne OGBORNE on 10 February 1941, and died the following day in Ipswich Hospital, Queensland, Australia. He was aged 51 at the time, and was buried in Ipswich General Cemetery, Church of England section, Plot A8659.
