Biography

Son of John Thomas AMOR and Kate Florence nee MUNNS

Edgar Lawrence Amor was born in Adelaide 7th January 1893 and lived in Norwood and worked as a wire mattress maker

After he enlisted, but before he went to fight, he married Eva Lillian Gladys Amor on September 18, 1915.

Before he left, his mother Kate Amor and her friends hosted him a farewell party.

He left Australia 18th November 1915 on board HMAT Geelong and arrived in Suez on the 18th of December, 1915.

He was transferred to the 4th field bakery on  20/3/1916

On 6/8/1916 he was taken to hospital with tonsilitis

He then rejoined the unit on 14/8/1916

On 10/11/1916, he got in trouble for being drunk while on active service

As punishment for this, he was deprived of 4 days of pay.

He is again taken to the hospital for sickness on 27/10/1917.

He then rejoined the unit on 22/1/1918

He then returned to Australia via Sardinia on 19/4/1919

Finally, he was discharged from military service on 4/8/1919

A newspaper article mentioning the dissolution of his marriage was published on 8/11/1919.
