Gordon Halliday Grigg was born on 7 November 1903 to Herbert Hugh and Florence Sylvia Grigg (nee Ackland).

Gordon was the fifth of twelve children. Gordon attended school at Springton.

Gordon married Norma Pollitt and they had four children; Raelene, Lynette, Bronte (Denise) and Roger.

Gordon died on 28 February 1975 and was cremated on 3 March 1975 at Centennial Park, South Australia.
