Edgar Bartlett
Edgar Bartlett was born on the 11th October 1891 at Bourke, N.S.W.
He embarked on 18th July 1915 with hi regiment and they went to Egypt first.
Ed volunteered to go to Gallipoli he landed on the 28th August remaining for 5 months working in the Rhododendron Ridge and Pine Hill areas. He was promoted to Lance Corporal in charge of 32 men. He saw many fall on that fateful Peninsula Ed was one of the last 45 men to be evacuated from the Peninsula. he returned to Egypt where he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and later too part in the Battle of Beersheba. Ed was proud to attend the premiere of the film "Gallipoli" and met the stars Mel Gibson and Mark Lee.
He participated in the symbolic return to "Gallipoli" for the 75th Anniversary of the landing of Anzac Cove. Ed celebrated his 100th birthday in 1991. Ed died on 4/6/1993 aged 101 years and 7 months.
