Albert migrated to Australia from Barry Dock, England. He, as many were in those days, a dedicated smoker, Albert lost a leg in a work place warfing accident in Wallaroo where his leg bacame wedged between the ship and dock.
A culmination of the smoking and loss of limb lead close friends, Likely down at his local "The Prince Edward Hotel" in Wallaroo, which he would frequent for a yarn over a few cold ones, to fondly nickname him "One-Leg-One-Lung-Young".
As the story goes, on at least one occasion, friends brought a match box of termites into the pub one day and as ably was sitting in his usual spot by up at the bar they emptied the contents onto Alby's wooden limb, exclaiming "Jee Alby, how long have you been here, theres even termites growing in your leg"
Albert Shares a grave with wife Myra Delia Malinda Young (died 26/01/1969 (aged 72yrs) in the Wallaroo Cemetary. The Wallaroo RSL has a small dedicated stone on the grave listing him as Service # 2390 Private A. E. Young 10th Batt AIF.
