Son of Mr A and the late Mrs FARROW, of Oxford, England. Educated at Orford England, William played both soccer and football both in England and Australia and was a member of the Tramways Team in D.A. Married with six children and residing at 32 Albermarle Street, West Hindmarsh.
At the age of 16 he joined the English Mine Sweeper Section and served for four years during the Great War. After discharge he joined fishing groups and worked up to Newfoundland in this fleet for three years, then coming to Australia he worked for the Irrigation Department and also Fruit Picking. Applied to the RAN and was accepted by the AMF in May 1940.
