Sidney Roy Storr was the son of Robert and Lauretta Eliza (nee Bawden) Storr of Port Broughton.
He was born at Port Broughton in 1896. A blacksmith striker, he was 18 years old when he enlisted at Keswick on 21 June 1915.
Initially appointed to 5th Reinforcements 27 Battalion Cyril embarked aboard HMAT A70 “Ballarat” on 14 September 1915. At Tel-el-Kebir he was taken on strength of 27 Battalion and embarked from Alexandria on 15 March. The battalion disembarked at Marseilles 6 days later. In France Sidney was attached to 1st Coy Australian Army Service Corps Division Train for a two month period from 19 April 1916. Again in 1917 he was attached to 17th Coy Australian Army Service Corps for a three month period before rejoining 27 Battalion on 4 August.
Sidney embarked aboard HMAT A68 “Anchises” for his return to Australia on 28 February 1919 and disembarked at Port Adelaide on 13 April. He was discharged on 5 June 1919.
