The son of Fredrick William and Ida May (Gregory) Holbrook, originally from Hope Valley, South Australia. Melville Edward Fredrick Holbrook was born on the 02nd October 1908 he had four siblings, Sylvia Alicia Quin, Gabell (Holbrook) Stanley Kevin John, Coral and Thora Holbrook. He joined the Army on the 23rd April 1941 allocated to the 43rd Infantry Battalion and discharged on the 02 january 1942. He was married to Catherine Ellen Holbrook and he passed on the 13th November 1972, aged 64. He is buried with his daughter Marie Louise and his wife at Cheltham Cemetary, Section F, Drive A, Path 24, Site Number 21C.
