Yet another old identity has passed on. William Texas Bennett, widower, aged 61, died at the Alice Springs Hospital in the;early evening, of 4th December, 1946. He was a veteran of two world wars, but for several years has been permanently disabled and his familiar figure, riding on a three wheeled cycle, was perhaps the best known in Alice. He showed remarkable fortitude in his adversity. "Old Tex", as he was known to everyone, was crippled up with arthritis, and yet never complained. He has left his entire estate to the local branch of the Red Cross Society.
