William Trotter Hall (how he got his name)
William Trotter Hall is the son of James Richard Hall & Lillian Hindmarsh Hall nee (Currey). Lillian was born at No 6 Stepney Lane Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1889, she was the eldest surviving daughter of Robert Hindmarch Currey 1864-1939, and Marian Mary Currey nee (Raine) 1864-1903. In 1907 Lillian's father Robert & step mother Caroline had a son William Trotter Currey my Grandfather, the story is his middle name was after a friend of Robert's who had no children, and when William Currey was born he said to Robert if you make his middle name the same as my last name (Trotter) i will leave all my money to him when i die Robert said OK. That's how the name Trotter came about however granddad never inherited any money. So in 1913 when Lillian had a son (William) she named him after her little brother. In 1926 Jim Hall & Lillian immigrated to Australia and lived in Adelaide, after WW2 William Currey decided to also immigrate and in 1951 he moved his family to Melbourne. My dad says he can still remember the family driving to Adelaide and catching up with the Hall's.
