Albert was the son of Albert (Bert) Edward Westley (b1893 in Hindmarsh, South Australia) and Zelia Irene Veale (b1896 in Yelat, South Australia). Bert and Zelia married in 1917 in Broken Hill, NSW and settled in Edwardstown, South Australia. Bert worked as a Labourer and Motorbody Builder.
In 1941 Albert was a Labourer in Adelaide when he married Dulcie Avaline Klobe (b1917 in Adelaide, South Australia).
Albert was a Press Operator in April 1943 when he enlisted in the ACMF, serving as a Private (Service No:S17000) with 19th Infantry Training Battalion. He was Discharged on 2 December 1943 and the following day re-enlisted (Private; Service No:SX38084). Albert served with 101 Heavy Mortars Coy and 7th Infantry Battalion in New Guinea (19 April 1944 - 8 August 1944) and Bougainville (29 December 1944 - 7 April 1946). Albert was a Private attached to 101 Heavy Mortars Coy when he was Discharged on 24 April 1946. Father-in-Law Reinholdt Otto Klobe (Private; Service No:197) served in WWI and Brother-in-Law Kevin John Klobe (Private; Service Nos:SX31874/S112301) served in WWII.
Following his return from War, Albert and Dulcie lived in Adelaide, South Australia. Albert died in 1989 and Dulcie in 1996.
