Son of Henry Herbert and Emily Gertrude Thunder of 48 Lilydale Grove, Auburn, Victoria formerly of 36 Invermay Grove, South Auburn, Victoria. Brother of Eva Marion Thunder, Ruth Helen Thunder, Alfred John Thunder and Florence Amelia Thunder

Albert William Thunder was reported killed in action on the 25 April 1915. His remains were discovered by Graves Exhumation parties during December 1922 and his identity disc was returned to his mother late that year. He was reinterred in the Lone Pine Cemetery (Row O, Grave No. 15), Gallipoli, Turkey.
