Son of Thomas David FELSTEAD of 24 Beulah Road, Norwood, SA. Educated at Berri and Norwood, Milton was interested in athletics and rowing and competed successfully in Wood, Son & Co.'s sheffield handicap, gaining trophy and winning many other prizes over sheffield distances. He was cox of a Torrens rowing crew for many years and won open eights at Port Adelaide in the 1939 Regatta and was the cox of the winning crew in "Walsh Fours" Torrens Club in 1935. In civilian life he was a clerk at Wood, Son & Co's Adelaide and joined the Militia in April 1942. After four months he transferred to the Australian Armoured Division.
