Second youngest in a family of nine father died 1930 when 6 yrs old, left school early to support mother.Joined Army reserve 1942 then enlisted in regular army1943 continued to send money home to mother,
Allocated to 2/2 Railway Construction Company had trouble adjusting to army life, sent to borneo 1945 possibly on hmas westralia and returned to australia and discharged early 1946.
