Gordon served in Borneo for a time after serving in Australia. His brother Frank was killed on the Kokoda Track in 1942. Gordon was one of 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
He returned after the war to marry Jean and they had 9 children. The first 4 born in Broken Hill and then 5 more when they moved to Port Pirie, where they spent the rest of their lives.
