Son of Mr and Mrs R.A. Glass of 119 Carrington Street, Adelaide, SA. William was married and residing at 28 Mill Street Adelaide when he enlisted in September 1941. Educated at Mount Gambier (Q.C.) and Mt Gambier High Schools he followed all outdoor sport and played football and cricket for Mt. Gambier for serveral seasons. In civil life he worked at the baking business of his father until enlistment. He trained in Victoria and NS.W. where he accidentally broke a leg.
