Son of Mr and Mrs P.W. ROWLAND of 5 Tyrell Street, Kensington, SA. Educated at Norwood Central School, Leslie was fond of reading and home life. A member of the Order of Knights Methodist Church Club, in civilian life he worked as a wood machinist at the Progressive Furniture Factory in Kent Town. Enlisted in June 1940. An uncle on his mother's side Trooper G A PEEK fought in the Boer War.
