Biography

The Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1931 - 1954) Fri 12 Oct 1945

Mrs. Peter Dowling, of Moonta, has received advice that her husband, L/Bdr. P. G. Dowling, of Rabaul garrison, is now reported missing believed to have lost his life while POW on or after July 1, 1942. He was in the Royal Australian Artillery at Fort Largs before leaving Australia in April, 1941. He is the third son of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Dowling, of Port Hughes, formerly of Malvern, whose five sons served in this war. The youngest son, Ted (RAAF) is presumed to have lost his life in operations over France in July, 1944.
