Son of Mary Wilson TISHER, Sawmill Gulley, South Australia.
Birth registered as Walter Richard TISCHER, 26 November 1892 - son of Richard Adolf TISCHER and Mary Helene nee WOLF
In WW2 Richard put his age down to enlist. Married with four children, he resided at 2 Cockburn Street, Port Pirie. His son Pte. Gordon W. Tisher served in WW2 as well. Educated at Queenstown and Ambleside Public Schools, Richard was a baker in civilian life. He had served in the Great War in France. Enlisting in July 1940 he left for overseas and was wounded in the Middle East Campaign and was returned to Australia. His wife Hilda Sarah Tisher also served in the Queen's Army Auxiliary Corps in France in the last war 15729.
