Son of Mr and Mrs W.E. MILLS of Wanbi, SA. Edwin was educated at Wanbi Public School and played football and tennis for Wanbi for several seasons. In civilian life he was married with one son and residing in Renmark, where he worked on fruit blocks on River Settlements (principally in Renmark). When he enlisted in June 1940 he was working on the fruit block of Mr. Basil Jones in Renmark, and he left Australia for the Middle East in December 1940 and saw service in Syria.
