William enlisted at Nhilll, Victoria into the 7th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps in September 1940 and gave his Father Henry as NOK. Records show he added a year to his age by stating he was born in 1916.
When he enlsted at Royal Park, South Australia with the Engineers Works Company in September 1941 he gave his correct date of bith and nominated his wife Sheila as his NOK
