JOHN J. CADAN DIES OF
WOUNDS.
BORN AT JAMESTOWN IN 1918.
Sincere regret was expressed by many residents of Clare on Wednesday, when it was learned that John James ('Digger') Cadan, had died of wounds received on active service abroad. He was the only son of Mr. Patrick J. and Mrs. Florence M. Cadan, of Tatler's Hotel, Sydney. His three sisters are named Chreena, Betty and Gwen.
John was born at Jamestown in 1918, and had reached the age of only 23 years, and was the third of a family of four children. Mr. and Mrs. Cadan formerly owned the Clare Hotel, in Main Street, and their children grew from childhood to manhood and woman hood during the time they lived here. John received his early education at the Sisters of St. Joseph's School, Clare, and later entered Christian Brothers College, at Rostrevor, Magill.
On Wednesday afternoon the Mayor of Clare (Mr. C. Pink) on behalf of Councillors of the Corporation and townspeople generally, despatched a telegram to Mr. and Mrs. Cadan, expressing the deepest sympathy with them in their sad loss.
