Son of William Morris and Norah HUTCHINSON, of 47 Parks Street, Solomontown, SA.
Raymond was educated at Solomontown Primary School and continued on to Port Pirie High School. He played football and was a prominent official of Solomontown B Grade. He also took part in cricket, boxing and swimming and was associated with his brothers in pigeon racing. He was employed as a barman by the licencee of the Globe Hotel Solomontown when he joined the 'Canberra' in 1941 and was one of the crew in her successful encounters in Macassar Straits and the Coral Sea. He was reported missing and belived to have been killed in the Solomon Islands battle. He had one brother serving with the A.I.F.
