Cecil John Albrecht was born in Brisbane in 1919. The fifth of six children born to William and Wilhelmina Albrecht. He arrived on Christmas Day. Cecil was working as a Grocer's Assistant when he was enlisted into the militia in mid 1940. He subsequently volunteered for the 2nd A.I.F. when Japan entered the war. 

He spent 1942 on active service in Papua. Cecil was twice promoted before he fell in combat. He was K.I.A in the fierce Battle for the Gona - Buna Beachheads in December 1942.

His CWGC Epitath states "A TRIBUTE TO OUR BRAVE LOVING SON CECIL. MUM, DAD, SISTERS AND BROTHERS".
