Plane was Lancaster JB 608 was attacked by two JU 88 ME shortly after bombing and was hit on the fuselage and wing and caught fire, There were five survivors.

His parents were Walter Wallace ALFORD & Gertrude ANGUS who married in Sydney in 1910
He married Edna Teresa MAHER on 29th November, 1941 in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Randwick - 1 son Angus Hudson John ALFORD
