DIED IN THAILAND
Pte Gordon M. Allan (2/29th Battalion, 8th Division), only son of Mr
and Mrs M. Allan, 9 Merrin crescent, Wonthaggi, is believed to have died of cholera in prisoner - of - war camp in Thailand (date unknown). Enlisting in 1940, Pte Allan left Australia for Malaya in July, 1941. Before his enlistment he was for five years on the staff of Ball and Welch Pty Ltd, Flinders street, Melbourne. He was 23.
