Benjamin Southam AMBROSE was born in Launceston, Tasmania on 26th October, 1915
His parents were Arthur Rueben AMBROSE & Margaret (Maggie) WALKER who married in Sydney in 1908
He enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force at Point Cook on 15th July, 1936 & was an Air Cadet until 20th July, 1937
He married to Kathleen RAHILL in England in 1940 - marriage registered in Surrey Mid Eastern in September quarter - she was from Tullyco, Cavan, Ireland
Benjamin was lost in a flying battle during air operations over Dusseldorf Germany & was missing presumed deceased - the plane was a Lancaster W4983 - he was a Squadron Leader (Pilot) in No. 467 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve
He is buried in the Rheinberg War Cemetery in Collective grave 3A , grave 3 to 7
Inscription reads:
