Bruce Waller Birchall ANDERSON was born on 22nd August, 1917 at "Timaru" Cole St, Gardenvale in Melbourne, Victoria
His parents were William James Waller ANDERSON and Amelia Clarice BIRCHALL - he was the only son in the family & had several sisters
Bruce married a lady called Doris Marion (Dot) OLIVER before he embarked - Doris was born on 17th June, 1922 in St Kilda, Victoria to William Alfred OLIVER and Emily Florence MURPHY - she died 4th January, 2003- Doris served with the RAAF (Service No. 90817)
Bruce enlisted in Royal Park, Victoria on 19th May, 1943 and embarked with the 2nd/6th Infantry Regiment on 16th November, 1944 en route to New Guinea where they arrived on 6th December, 1944 at Aitape
He was wounded in New Guinea on 30th March, 1945 and invalided back to Victoria
He died on 28th October, 1945 in Heidleberg Military Hospital in Victoria as a consequence of wounds received in New Guinea and is buried in Springvale War Cemetery - his Funeral took place on 30th October 1945 at the Chapelof B. Matthews Pty. Ltd at 102 Toorak Road, South Yarra - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
