Bruce Valentine ASHTON was born in Melbourne on 17th April, 1921
His parents were Ernest Valentine ASHTON & Ida Minnie Augusta KOHLBURGER
He enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy in Sydney on 21st August, 1942 - he volunteered to do secret anti submarine work
He was promoted to Sub Lieutenant in the Royal Australian Naval Reserve on the HMS Cricket and was listed as missing during the Normandy Operations in the English Channel, presumed dead, on 6th June 1944 - he was attached to the Royal Navy at the time - he is buried in Bayeux War Cemetery
