Charles Frederick ASSHETON was born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia on 21st September, 1901
His parents were Frederick Claude Latima ASSHETON & Elizabeth Helen DUELL who married in Kalgoorlie in 1899
He married Anne Amelia DEHLE on 7th April, 1927 in the Holy Trinity Church in Strahan, Tasmania
Charles died of wounds in Malaya on 9th February, 1942 during the Fall of Singapore - no known grave
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Singapore Memorial

His Father Frederick Claude Latima ASSHETON (SN 2341) served in the Army during WW1 and returned to Australia in 1919
His son John Latima ASSHETON (SN NX202253) died in a mortar shell accident in a home garage on 9th July, 1944 - he was with the 41st Infantry Battalion and had used his brothers details to enlist - he was only 16 years old
