Roy AYLETT was born Royce Ernest COLUMBINE in Queenstown, Tasmania on 11th August, 1924
His parents were Ernest Frederick COLUMBINE & Evelyn AYLETT who married on 6th August, 1913 in St James, Waratah, Tasmania (divorced in 1933)
He was also known as Royce Ernest COLUMBINE
His mother Evelyn remarried in 1934 in Victoria to a Charles Leslie FREDRICKSON in Victoria - she died in Victoria in 1984
Roy was taken prisoner of war of the Japanese ( POW No. 1577) and died in Sandakan, Borneo on 7th February, 1945 of illness- no known grave
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Labuan Memorial
