Alwyn was a very young man when he joined up but as a student of Murwillumbah High School, he was well liked, a good student and an even better athlete.
At one athletics carnival he ran the 110 yard sprint in under 11 seconds, in the rain!
The Baker family was well known throughout Murwillumbah as a prosperous and community minded family.
Alwyn enlisted through a desire to serve his country and to see the world such was his adventurous spirit.
A tragic aircraft training accident at only 19 means we never knew what he would become but he was liked by all those who knew him.
