Son of John Milborn Beattie and Edith Frances Beattie of New Town, Tasmania
The NAA hold a casualty file for Warrant Officer Beattie from when his aircraft was attacked by a night fighter while on a mission to target Mainz in August 1942
He was a member of the crew of 150 Squadron RAF Wellington bomber VX3744 operating from Snaith aerodrome, England
RAAF 406589 Flight Sergeant Paton Bell was killed in the attack but the rest of the crew survived, following an emergency landing at Coltishall
