Parents: - John Percival Blackman and Mary Veronica MacCaffrey married 1913 in Gunnedah, New South Wales
Wife: - Kathleen Agnes Mary Sibraa (married 1943
Sydney, New South Wales) of Cootamundra New South Wales.
John was born 25th February 1923 in Gunnedah, New South Wales, he enlisted on 1st June 1940 in Wagga Wagga, stating he was born in 1920. Wounded in action 20th March 1941, Axis Operation, Sonnenblume. John was part of Siege of Tobruk, Libya
Part of HQ Guards Battalion, where he received a shrapnel wound to leg on 4th August 1941. ("A RAT of Tobruk")
John returned to Australia for discharge 30th October 1941 at fathers request and being underaged. He reenlisted on 28th November 1941.
