Son of James Aubrey and Elizabeth Blackwell, of Manilla, New South Wales

Pte. Blackwell joined the A.I.F. in October 1939. He sailed in January 1940; took part in the Lybian Campaign at Bardia and Tobruk; took part in the Campaign in Greece and with ten other soldiers escaped in a boat from Greece, travelled through Turkey and rejoined his unit.
