FUNERAL. The Late Mr. Albert Borwick.
A highly respected citizen in the person of Private Albert Corrigal Borwick of the Western Command Training Depot, A & S C (AIF) and of 28th John St, Cottesloe, died as a result of a motor accident at Guildford on August 2. Mr. Borwick will be well remembered as being associated with his brother Mr. W J Borwick at the Swan Hotel, North Fremantle and the licensee some years ago of the Criterion Hotel, Hannan St. Kalgoorlie and the Palace Hotel, Morgans.
A military funeral took place on tuesday morning, the parade being in charge of Captain Drake Brockman of Military Headquarters. The internment took place in the Church of England portion of the Karrakatta Cemetery and the senior army chaplain, the Rev. George Tulloch of the Presbyterian Church conducted the service at the graveside in the presence of a large and representative gathering which was, an eloquent testimony to the respect and esteem in which Mr. Borwick was held.
He leaves a wife and one daughter who is an army nurse at present in the Eastern States, to mourn their loss.
The coffin enshrouded with the Union Jack was borne on a gun carriage and the pallbearers and coffin bearers were drawn from the deceaseds unit. At the conclusion of the service at the graveside the Last Post and Reveille were sounded. The hearse was laden with beautiful floral tributes and wide spread messages of sympathy have been extended to the bereaved relatives.
