Biography

Wallace Vivian Bridle was born on 26 April 1917 at Adaminaby, son of James & Clara (nee Green) Bridle, the eighth child of a family of nine. He grew up at Adaminaby & Blowering, near Tumut. Wallace attended East Blowering School, where the family owned a property called 'Willow Vale' at Brandy Mary's. Wallace was a labourer before enlisting in the Second AIF in July 1942 at Adaminaby, aged 25. He had previously been a member of the 21st Light Horse.

Wallace was a likable young man. Two of his brothers, Raymond Claude & Rolfe George, also signed up for service in WWII.

"...NX111809 Private Wallace Vivian Bridle of Tumut, NSW. A labourer before enlisting in the Second AIF in July 1942, Pte Bridle served in the Pacific campaign with the 2/12 Battalion. He was killed in action during the battalion's attack on Japanese positions at Canning's Saddle during the Battle of Shaggy Ridge in New Guinea on 22 January 1944, aged 26." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
