On the 7th of June 1942 Manchester bomber L7471 of 50SQN RAF crashed in the North Sea approximately 50 miles seaward from the Frisian Islands as it was on the return leg after bombing the target of Emden in Germany
Sergeant Ronald Garnet Burton 403856 RAAF was killed instantly - his body was not recovered and he is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial
Pilot Officer Argyle Donald Beatty 403104 died of injuries in a German Army Field Hospital on the 10th of September 1942
