RAAF Ventura PV1 aircraft A59-56 of Number 13 Squadron crashed into the sea off Bremer Island near Gove, NT while on a gunnery exercise.  Two crewmen survived: Warrant Officer Gordon Frank Cathro 417991 (discharged November 1945) & Warrant Officer George Robert Murdoch 420396 (discharged February 1946).  The rest of the crew were killed:
