Eric Maxwell CATHERWOOD was born in Prahan, Victoria on 17th October, 1895
His parents were Alfred Maxwell CATHERWOOD & Laura Annie HAYNES
He married Nellie Maie RANDELL in Queensland on 25th March, 1923
He served in both WW1 and WW2 & his last rank was Major in the Milne Bay Base sub area
Eric died as a passenger on a Dakota Aircraft AC -47 which crashed between Cooktown & Milne Bay on 2nd February, 1944 - his death was presumed and there is no known grave
His name is memorialised on the Australia War Memorial & the Port Moresby Memorial
