25 Jan 1946: | Honoured Distinguished Flying Cross, Air War NW Europe 1939-45, Flt/Lt. Roland ReginaLd Cowan was posthumously awarded the DFC for "Fortitude, courage and devotion on numerous operations." He was the pilot of 467 Squadron Lancaster Bomber PO-L (ND729) and was killed along with his six crew on 24/25th June on what would have been their 33rd operation attacking a V1 flying bomb site at Prouville, NW France. Roland Cowan has no known grave. |
