Sergeant Albert George Declerek of Newcastle lost his life as captain pilot of a Haliflax bomber on its way from Egypt to Crete on his 54th operational flight. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Declerck, of Nelson's Bay, grandson of the late George and Mrs. S. A. Burchill. of Edward street, Merewether and son-in-law of Mr.and Mrs Illfield of Thomas street, Dudley.
