Husband of Muriel Bertha Ellyard of Subiaco, WA

Ronald Elyard trained with No. 4 Service Flying Training School at Geraldton in Western Australia, before being transferrd to No. 12 Squadron.

406932  POFF Ronald Victor Ellyard and 32805 FSgt Angus Milton Nicholls were killed in the loss of 12 Squadron RAAF Wirraway Aircraft A20-544 near Pine Creek, Pell, NT.  The incident occurred at 1545 hrs 02/08/42, when the port wing of the aircraft separated from the airframe during a practice dive bombing attack at Pine Creek in the Northern Territory.  The aircraft crashed and was completely wrecked and burnt. The crew, 406932  Pilot Officer Ronald Victor Ellyard and 32805 Flight Sergeant  Angus Milton Nicholls were both killed.
