HIS DUTY NOBLY DONE
Trooper Valentine John Blake Greaves (23) eldest son of Mr and Mrs J.A. Greaves of Bingleburra, Chinchilla, formerly of Salvo in the Eidsvold-Mundubbera district, died of illness at a field hospital in New Guinea on February 15. Tpr. Graves was for many years a member of the Mundubbera Light Horse Troop and resigned early in 1941 to join the A.I.F. He saw service in the Middle East returning to Australia last April. Later he was sent to New Guinea and was in action in the Buna-Sanananda campaign just prior to his death. He is survived by his parents, two brothers - Corporal Athol C and Trooper Kevin W Greaves, both of the A.I.F. - and two sisters Misses Joyce E. (in the military service in Brisbane) and Irene N Greaves (Bingleburra).
