EVERY DAY IN SILENCE WE REMEMBER OUR BELOVED AND GALLANT SON
A R.A.A.F. casualty list reports the death of Flight-Sergeant Jeffrey James Grieve, who lost his life in an aircraft crash while on operational flight in Scotland. He was 26 years of age, and was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. George Grieve. The late airman's mother was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Smith, of Bacchus Marsh, who were for many years in charge of the Rowsley railway station. Relatives on the father's sie are still living in the district. Airman Grieve was a prominent League footballer, being attached to the South Melbourne Club.
